Camping

The local camping grounds provide an excellent way to enjoy nature and the landscape at close quarters and obtain access to all the leisure activities being offered.

Five camping ground operators within the biosphere reserve have entered into cooperation with each other using the joint slogan "Living with Nature and in Nature – natural and environmentally friendly” ("In der Natur – mit der Natur leben, naturnah und umweltbewusst”): Block’s Camp Wendewisch, the Elbufer Camp in Radegast, the ADAC Camping Ground in Alt Garge, Camping-Elbufer Groß Kühren and the Campingpark Gartow. Their aim is to promote sustainable tourism in the Elbe valley and maintain high environmental standards. This has attracted recognition from the ‘Tourismusband Elbe’, a joint tourism agency specifically covering the river Elbe. The Tourismusband has given the cooperating camping grounds the status of environmentally friendly partner organizations, and they have been licensed by the umbrella tourism organization VIABONO.

There are also camping grounds at the lake called the Laascher See as well as in Walmsburg, Tießau and Wendewisch.
